Transmission and BearingsBall transfer units

Ball transfer units or ball handling units are widely used in all sectors of industry to enable the movement of heavy and bulky loads in all directions with minimal effort.

Applications

The main applications and areas of activity where our ball transfer units are used are:

  • Airport equipment
  • Lifting platforms and equipment
  • Sheet metal machining, bending, and stamping machines
  • Packaging lines
  • Hydraulic presses
  • Conveyors and container carriers
  • Marble processing machines
  • Movable partitions
  • Sliding doors, windows, and gates
  • Equipment for robotics, electronics, and automation in general

Determining the Ball Transfer Unit:

The type and quantity of ball transfer units are determined based on the weight and dimensions of the load to be moved. The maximum load per ball-bearing unit is determined by dividing the total weight of the load to be moved by 3. It is important that the load be applied along a vertical axis. These calculations are valid for “ball-up” operation.

To determine the pitch (distance between each ball-bearing unit) for a flat surface, divide the smallest dimension of the load to be transported by 2.5. For example, for a 400 mm x 800 mm sheet metal, the pitch would be 400 divided by 2.5, or a distance of 160 mm between each ball. This pitch ensures that the load is supported by a sufficient number of ball-bearing units.
